Vineyard Manager

Weis Vineyards is seeking a full-time vineyard manager of over 20 acres over multiple sites owned by Weis Vineyards.  You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day vineyard operations and maintaining quality standards, and you will report directly to the winery owner and winemaker.

Vineyard duties include, but are not limited to:

• Overseeing the current vineyards including pruning, canopy/floor management, spraying, leaf pulling and harvesting according to the vineyard plan with the help of the vineyard crew
• Communicating daily responsibilities and tasks to the vineyard crew
• Ensuring compliance with safety policies, laws and company standards
• Training and supervising of seasonal staff including maintaining accurate timekeeping, ensuring proper safety measures and compliance with NYS laws
• Vineyard planting and development
• Managing spray schedules, records, and general pest monitoring
• Keeping accurate records of vineyard operations including vineyard maps, yields, and weather data
• Ensuring equipment is set up in accordance with specifications and requirements
• Maintaining vineyard equipment including basic repairs and calibration
• Maintaining vineyard cleanliness, including the shop and surrounding area

In addition to vineyard duties, the vineyard manager may be required to perform certain cellar duties depending on workload and season.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of seven years of vineyard work
• Experience driving a tractor and operating a forklift is absolutely necessary
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a spray license
• Candidate should have a willingness to learn new skills and expand their knowledge
• Candidate should have basic computer skills and familiarity with documents and spreadsheets
• Candidate must be a quick learner and detail oriented
• Candidate must be physically able to perform all cellar duties, vineyard work, and lawn duties
• Must be committed to working a full schedule and extra if needed during the harvest season
• Must possess the ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, hardworking environment
• Candidate must have the ability to work flexible and extended hours on short notice
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: to be determined based on experience; Range: $50,000 – $120,000
