Manager of Vineyard & Winery Operations

 Job duties include:

This person oversees all aspects of the wine business from vineyard planting to finished product in the bottle. And can monitor quality control and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Vineyard

  • Assist with the layout and planting of new vineyard expansion
  • Help determine which grape varietals should be planted for further expansion
  • Cultivation, fruit thinning, leafing, pruning, canopy management, new plantings, young vine training, grape harvesting
  • Install and maintain wire trellis system
  • Pest management: Pesticides and herbicides application regularly
  • Increases/improves fruit and wine quality through observation and viticultural decisions
  • Walk the rows daily to look out for the first signs of disease
  • Maintain orderly inventory of vineyard equipment and tools

Winemaking

  • Assist with ordering all raw materials (bottles, corks, labels, shipping supplies, etc) and keep a clear inventory of them
  • Oversee the winemaking at all stages (crush, fermentation, juice, racking, aging, filtering, heat/cold stabilizing, bottling)
  • Fill, top, stir and maintain wine in barrel
  • Participate and organize personnel for bottling day
  • Assist with label and foiling of bottled wines
  • General cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and space
  • Count monthly inventory for government reporting
  • Conduct routine lab analysis
  • Record keeping of operations related to grapes, juices and wines
  • Participate in wine tasting at all stages throughout the winemaking process and be responsible for conducting evaluation and recommendation of treatments
  • Continuously look to innovate winemaking and production and adapt to changing market conditions
  • Take the lead on the creation of new products
  • Occasionally participate in tastings on & off premise
  • Available to work some weekends based on farming needs & events
  • Interact with our Washington state management company

Misc.

  • General farm work and participation in projects as needed
  • Ability to lift, blend and transfer up to 50lbs
  • Train and supervise seasonal employees
